Our Story
Sunrise Athletics Club, was started by a group of friends out of passion for running, and the incredible friendship that we built from it over the years. A common thread being our love for the physical, mental and emotional benefits that running brings, and our desire is for everyone to experience it. Sunrise symbolizes a splendour of new beginnings, birth, growth and restoration.
Given that sport is a “language” that speaks across cultures and borders, it provides a framework for action and a starting point for economic and social inclusion.We strongly believe we can build non-racial, non-sexist society through the sport of running.
Our Vision
We are a community based club and our vision for Sunrise Athletics Club is to reconstruct lives and enhance the health of our society through running. To provide an inclusive community and to create a platform for athletes that comes from disadvantage background to expose their talent through running. At Sunrise AC we believe that running should be accessible, safe and equitable!
Our Mission
Our mission is to have members who embody the spirit of South Africa, representing many wonderful backgrounds. Men and women, young and old from different ethnic groups and most importantly, athletes on all levels of the running spectrum who will be proud to call Sunrise Athletics Club their home.
Our Values
Our logo includes a protected athlete foot, representing the values we hold dear: inclusiveness, equality, generosity, respect, kindness, diversity and camaraderie. We provide a family orientated, healthy, and happy enthusiastic atmosphere where everyone feels welcome.
